Use 1barn in your AI app.
Already use Claude? Bring your barn into it. Ask about horses, care, staff and events beside your email and calendar, with every answer from your own records, under your own 1barn login.
The connector works on every 1barn plan. It's separate from Ask 1barn, the assistant inside 1barn: use either, or both.
In Claude
Custom connectors work on every Claude plan: Free (one custom connector), Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise.
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it 1barn and enter the server URL:
https://api.1barn.com/mcp - Choose Connect. A 1barn sign-in page opens: sign in the way you sign in to 1barn. There's no key to paste.
- If you belong to more than one barn, pick the one Claude should work in. You can connect again later for another.
- In a conversation, turn 1barn on in the tools menu and ask a question.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, your organization's owner may need to add the connector first; then each person connects and signs in with their own 1barn login.
Or just talk to it
Connectors you add on Claude on the web or desktop are in the Claude phone app too, and Claude's voice mode can use them: ask your barn out loud from the aisle, the trailer or the drive. Your AI app still asks before it changes anything. Talk to 1barn
In ChatGPT
ChatGPT Business and Enterprise workspaces can add it now: a workspace admin adds 1barn as a custom connector on ChatGPT on the web, with the same server URL, and each person then connects and signs in with their own 1barn login. On other ChatGPT plans, 1barn arrives once our ChatGPT listing is approved; we'll say so here. On your phone, tap the microphone in the message box to say a question instead of typing it.
Claude Code and other MCP apps
Any app that supports MCP connectors can use https://api.1barn.com/mcp. It signs in with OAuth, so the app opens the same 1barn sign-in page the first time. In Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http 1barn https://api.1barn.com/mcpthen /mcp to sign in.
What it can read, change and send
Every call runs as you, with the role your barn gave you, and only what your barn has turned on answers. A boarder's connector sees that boarder's own horses; staff see the barn.
Read
Answers right away, from your records, under your login.
- What's due and overdue, and each horse's health records
- Horses, owners, where each one lives, and the people at the barn
- Today's care round and the care log
- Service days, events, registrations and bookings
- Signed documents, and who still has one to sign
- The staff schedule, open shifts and time off
- Lessons, terms and requests, on Program
- Balances and credits, for the owner and managers with the finance permission
Change
Your AI app asks before it changes a record.
- Log care, and add health records for one horse or several
- Sign horses up for a service day, or take them off
- Set an emergency card or a horse's health status
- Offer up or trade a shift, ask for a lesson cover, request time off
- Set up an event type with its price and deposit
Send
Anything that reaches people is marked, so the app asks plainly.
- Messages and posts to the barn's boards
- Documents sent for signature, reminders, and voiding one
- Invitations to sign in to 1barn
- Publishing the staff schedule
Safety, and what stays in 1barn
- Each 1barn tool tells your AI app whether it only reads, changes records, or reaches past 1barn (an email, a notice), so the app can ask before it acts. Anything that can't be undone, like voiding a contract or cancelling a registration, is marked so the app asks plainly.
- No tool charges a card, refunds, sends a payment link, or approves a booking that would charge one. Those stay in the 1barn app.
- No whole lists at once: not every registrant's email, every answer on a form, or the payroll. Clocking in stays on the barn's time clock.
- Values in secure form fields, like a license or card number, are never returned to an AI app.
- What you ask goes to your AI app's provider under your account with them and their terms.
- Disconnect any time in your AI app's settings; that ends its access to 1barn, and nothing in 1barn changes.
